Catie Bystrowski grew up in Connecticut before attending university in Scotland to study sociology. During her studies, she led a non-profit organization focused on supporting children in the Edinburgh area. This experience inspired her passion for supporting her community’s youth, creating long-term impact through childhood education and support. 

Catie grew up surrounded by nature, playing in the farm fields and forest abutting her family's home, caring for her horses, chickens, and goats, and walking the local trails. This inspired her love for the outdoors, which transitioned into hands-on environmental work as a sustainable and native gardener. 

As part of Sustainable Nantucket’s Farm to School team, Catie aims to interweave her love of nature and community building through sustainable gardening and food education. Having lived on Nantucket year-round for the past two years, Catie is excited to continue exploring, learning, and connecting on the island. 

In her free time, Catie enjoys spending time outdoors, biking, swimming, and walking. You will often find her cooking, listening to live music, and being with friends.
